Gennine Francis, a phenomenal vocal talent and entertainer from Los Angeles, gives the incredible gift of experiencing Whitney all over again.
Rarely do we get a chance to do a double take of one of the most influential entertainers in music history. Rarely do we ever have a second chance to reconnect with an artist in a way that is so similar to the original that it almost feels “otherworldly.”
Few performers have earned the titles of “Legend,” “Icon,”
and “The Voice.” Whitney Houston was all three, and is still
regarded as one of the all time greatest performers. Guinness
World Records cited her as the one of the most awarded female
acts of all time. Her powerful voice was unmatched and it took
us to a place we had never been before. The impact she made on the world, her seamless and soaring vocals, and all of the songs of which we recognize every word, have been at the very center of our musical experience.
At the age of eight, Gennine and her sisters began performing and entertaining in prestigious venues like the Forum, the Hollywood Palladium, the Ahmanson Theatre, and many more as The Jackson Sisters. They made multiple media and television appearances on shows like Soul Train, 90 Tonight and A Couple of Dons starring Don Rickles and Don Adams. They caught the eyes and ears of world class celebrities likeBill Cosby, Eddie Kendricks, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Three Dog Night, The Pointer Sisters, The Whispers, The Manhattans, Sister Sledge, The Silvers, and more. The Jackson Sisters released two R&B single recordings “(Why Can’t We Be) More Than Just Friends” and their hit song “I Believe in Miracles”, which also received international acclaim in Europe and Japan.
Gennine’s solo career is equally impressive with her strong vocals providing her many opportunities and accolades. She was named Orange County’s Entertainer of the Year in 1998 and has opened up forJennifer Holliday and appeared with Aaron Neville on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She has been dazzling Palm Springs and other Southern California area audiences performing “A Musical Journey,” a show featuring beloved hits from legends like Nancy Wilson, Etta James, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday and countless other R&B and soul artists.
In a heartwarming musical tribute, Gennine is performing a spectacular concert titled “The Essence of Whitney” at The Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside, CA. Gennine not only sings and sounds like Whitney, but also looks stunningly similar to her, as she is often reminded. Though the similarities between the two women are almost uncanny, Gennine makes it clear that she is only celebrating and honoring the legend Whitney Houston and not trying to impersonate her, as no one could ever replicate the original diva.
“The Essence of Whitney” will be a highlight for fans of both Gennine and Whitney, and will remind us just how much Whitney Houston will remain one of pop music’s best artists of all-time.
“With all my heart I believe Whitney deserves to be remembered and highly esteemed for the level of success she attained.”
