Isla Verde Cafe
Isle Verde is hosting a free salsa night Wednesdays, with instruction care of my friend Maestro Flaco. He is also a Latin dance sensei from whom I’ve learned a lot & continue to educate myself – in the ways of navigating salsa rhythms. He is funny, raucous and very attentive to details that will make us better dancers. If you have not had dinner, highly recommend coming at 7 to grab a bite or a drink to fuel up & relax after a long work day. Located at 2725 N American street, the menu offers good Cuban food as well as affordable brick oven pizzas (with pizza dough made fresh on premises) and excellent Mohitos. There should be street parking available in front of the restaurant. One can also take the #57 bus from 3rd and Market, which will put you right on the corner and then its a 3min walk to the venue. By 8 p.m., the tables will be cleared from the main floor to create space for the lesson. So come & dance the salsa you know and/or learn some new steps and a new way of doing salsa! This amazing video of rueda Cuban Circle salsa dance as a flash mob which shows a few of the moves we learned along with a whole lot more… very entertaining and fun! Shows what’s possible! https://youtu.be/GPp7UX5d2n0.
P.S. These events are being done in conjunction/partnership with my friend Linda. In addition to being a meet-up member, she is also a host /ambassador for couchsurfing.com. Feel free to introduce yourself to her if you recognize her from her Meetup profile photo.iCal |
