Enthusiasts of early twentieth-century domestic architecture and interior design, carpentry hobbyists, and the ones with an interest in restoration work will rejoice within the republication of this rare millwork catalog. Intended to be used by dealers, architects, contractors, and builders, the Universal Catalog Bureau’s 1927 publication stressed the significance of matching woodwork to the manner of the house under construction — a colonial-style entrance and doors for a colonial house, as an example, and dark, stained oak panel work and exposed beams for an English cottage design. This catalog assured customers of designs correct in proportions, economical in construction, and in harmony with the remainder of the place of abode.
