Howard C Perkins III
Several years later in 2010, he stepped into the classroom for the first time. In 2016 He matriculated from Coppin State University with a Masters in Education in the area of Special Education, completing the program with a 3.8 and becoming a member of Kappa Delta Phi National Education Honor Society. Howard is also a member of the Council of Exceptional Children. Howard is currently a Special Education Coordinator In NE Washington D.C. He holds valid Maryland State Department Advanced Professional Teacher Certificate and a District of Columbia Professional Teacher Certification. He is currently apart of the Washington Teachers Union Teacher Leader 2016-2017 Cohort. He is a devoted son and father to two amazing children Layla and Darien. In 2014, he wrote his first children's book Pieces Of A Puzzle.
AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION
Authored and Co-Published the Book Pieces of A Puzzle. A collection of short storied about children on the Autism Specturm and their families.
Taught in Special Education Classrooms for over 8 years, various subjects in Middle and High School is currently a Special Education Coordinator for D.C. Public Schoos.
Supporting families of newly diagnosed children, providing resources and recommendations for education. Use of a wide-ranging network of ASD providers.
Researching and educating about equity in schools. The opportunity gap that exists increases when funding is not distributed to those most in need.
Providing information to institutions and companies on special needs children, special education procedures. Developed procedures to help advance special needs students in the classroom.
Giving direction and providing opportunities to young men who would not traditionally have those opportunities. Building relationships and helping young men have access to positive role models.
