Description
These records were transcribed from microfilm, which in A few cases used to be in very poor condition. Knowledge varies from county to county but regularly includes name, unit and dates served. Names are arranged so as of appearance and aren’t alphabetical. Once in a while a Confederate soldier’s name seemed and used to be indicated by the census taker with a line drawn throughout the name or with an annotation of “C” or “Confed.” A few counties included the abbreviation “col” for colored squaddies.
