Within the 15th to 17th centuries, the good Age of Discovery, these artisans helped Europeans span the globe and attach civilizations. The twelve maps shown here epitomize centuries of mapmaking greatssuch as Gerardus Mercator, Abraham Ortelius, and Olaus Magnusa few lesser-identified cartographers, and one pirate (Guillaume Le Testu) for excellent measure.
