Alan V. Lowenstein: New Jersey Lawyer and Community Leader commemorates the life and achievements of one among New Jersey’s most prominent citizens. Born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1913, Lowenstein is the founder of one among New Jersey’s most prominent law firms, Lowenstein Sandler PC. Continually active in public affairs, he played a key role Within the Temporary National Economic Committee all the way through the New Deal and steered the development of several New Jersey community institutions. Within the 1950s and 1960s, he used to be concerned with civic reform initiatives in Newark.

Highlights of Lowenstein’s six decades of private and non-private service include revising the New Jersey corporate and banking laws and helping to establish the foundations of New Jersey’s largest Jewish community federation; leading the transition of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra from a semiprofessional suburban orchestra into an incredible institution of statewide significance; and helping develop Liberty State Park and sponsoring the establishment of the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice.
