But much of old Baltimore still stands, and a lot more is preserved in local archives, circle of relatives albums, and fond memories.

In this revised and expanded edition of his popular book, Mark B. Miller puts Baltimore’s past and present side-by-side, showing historic photographs of the city next to up to date photographs taken from the same vantage point. The result is an excellent record of Baltimore’s past–and an engaging guide to the historic buildings and features that continue to exist today. This new edition of Baltimore Transitions adds several new views of Falls Road and the Jones Falls valley and one of Broadway taking a look south from Baltimore Street in 1890.
