Bowling Green changed into town of speed instantly after World War II as The us started its love affair with the car. Stock car racing took town by hurricane in its inaugural season of 1951, drawing crowds of as much as 7,000 in a town of simplest 18,000. Soon thereafter, town attracted the Chevrolet Corvette assembly plant followed by the National Corvette Museum.
