Guide to Crater Lake National Park, Sky Lakes Wilderness, Mountain Lakes Wilderness and Mt. Over 100 trails are described and shown at the book’s 26 topographic maps.
Mt. Mazama, a towering, glacier-clad volcano not unlike present-day Mt. Hood, erupted more or less 6,900 years ago, leaving at the back of the deep hole that may be now Crater Lake. Famous for the lake’s deep, crystal-clear waters and rugged surrounding terrain, Crater Lake National Park is a bounty of unique geology in a spectacular setting. This guide to the area provides a lot of useful trail info for hikers, skiers, and anglers–in addition to lessons in local botany, geology, and natural world. Also included is a detailed driving route around the rim of Crater Lake with 48 narrated stops and accompanying topographic maps.
