Now, in stories spanning two centuries, historian Leo Banks delves into the characters of myth and legend, at the same time as author/naturalist Craig Childs explores contempory issues through sketches of the individuals who live and work Within the West’s most recognizable natural wonder.

Every chapter is illustrated with no less than one black and white photograph — some are seldom-seen historical photos, others picture personalities who live and work Within the Canyon now. A 15-page Grand Canyon “circle of relatives album” acquaints readers with one of the crucial interesting individuals who have been drawn to the Canyon over the years — from Douglas Fairbanks to Barry Goldwater to the Harvey Girls.

Other books have examined the Grand Canyon as a natural wonder. This book tells the stories of how the grandest of canyons has worked its wonder on people. Grand Canyon Stories is indispensable reading for any person interested in Grand Canyon history and issues.
