Martyrs of El Salvador/ Their Tapes and Letters

Description

In December 1980 four female Catholic missionaries were murdered in El Salvador. The inside track stories of the day described them a churchwomen.
This turns out inadequate. They were American girls of the 50s and 60s. That they had done the twist and listened to the Beatles.
Dorothy Kazel used to be an Ursuline nun. Ita Ford and Maura Clarke were Maryknoll Sisters. Jean Donovan used to be a lay missionary.
They were a part of the grand fabric of American life. They were identical in some ways, yet they were as singular as the celebrities within the night.
From time to time they wondered if they were doing enough.
This is their story.
