Description

Impressed in 1947 by Swiss doctor, and theologian, Dr. Albert Schweitzer, a success rancher Larry Mellon and his wife Gwen Grant Mellon made up our minds to found a hospital in Haiti, then, as now, the poorest united states of america within the Western hemisphere.

The Road to Deschapelles is the tale of an ordinary couple who, in 1954, founded Hospital Albert Schweitzer in Deschapelles in central Haiti and where they and the hospital have cared for probably the most needy and the ill for greater than 40 years.
