This is particularly true, when we believe that the regiment has been found worthy and chosen to be included as One of the vital 300 Fighting Regi ments by Lt. Col. Wm. F. Fox, U. S. Army, in his history of Regimental Losses within the Civil War, 1861 of over regiments within the Union army, and as its total of killed and wounded were 641, and its total deaths 274, as Col. Fox says It it appears that evidently did considerable fighting.
