Description
When baseball teams started competing in Milwaukee within the 1860s the game, even though still recognizably baseball, had some ordinary rules. There have been no gloves, no protective gear for the catchers, the pitchers threw underhanded, and the game used to be over when one team scored 21 runs. Spanning the years 1859 to 1901, this volume presents a detailed study of the history of baseball in Milwaukee. Along with coverage of the major league teams that played within the city, there could also be an extensive history of the minor league and amateur league teams that were fielded. Also included are photographs and line drawings of owners, players, teams, and so on.–in addition to statistics on players and teams of the era.
