The book describes the horror and suffering of the ones shipwrecked. the dramatic and painful rescue efforts, and describes how these events ended in a protracted standing sister town relationship between Virginia Beach and Moss, Norway. homeport of the stricken vessel. Town of Moss presented the Norwegian Girl statue to Virginia Beach as a present for its citizens effort to rescue the shipwrecked Norwegians. The statue stands on the Virginia Beach oceanfront, close to the scene of the Dictator shipwreck.
