Tibet to Texas also captures the personalities and intense human struggles of Texans striving to practice the four sects of Tibet’s Karma Kagyu Buddhism within the Lone Star State. That is the tale of heroic individuals such as Jan Puckett, whose efforts resulted in the 1991 established order of the Rigpe Dorje Foundation in San Antonio.

Other Texas stories come with the introduction of Chogyam Trungpa’s Shambhala International to Austin in 1974; the coming of Lama Ole Nydahl’s Diamond Way in League City in 1992; and the tale of the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra system finding a home in Dallas in 1986.
