Description

state medal of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan. It was handed over to servicemen who served in the ranks of the Restricted contingent of Soviet troops in Afghanistan. The decree on the establishment of the medal was signed on May 15, 1988, the day when the withdrawal of the first military units from Jalalabad began The medal is made of brass. On the obverse is the flag of Afghanistan imposed on the flag of the USSR. Pole of flags rest against the composition of the mountains, over which the sun rises. From the mountains, along the circumference is an olive branch. On the reverse of the center of the inscription: “From grateful Afghani people” in the four-line, downstream of the inscription circle repeated in the Pashto language. The medal with the ear and oval link is connected with a rectangular shoe, which has a recess on each side. The width of the pad is 29 mm, the height is 25 mm (including the lower ledge). Along the base of the pads there are slits, its inner part is covered with silk moire ribbon of blue color with a width of 24 mm. The shoe has a twist on the back for attaching the medal to the clothes.
