Description
Women of the Constitution follows within the footsteps of the 1912 work The Better halves of the Signers, which was once dedicated to biographical sketches of the spouses of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. This new publication would be the first work devoted exclusively to brief biographies of the forty-three Better halves of the signers of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787.
Each entry includes necessary information, where known—such as birth, parents, marriage, kids, and death—in addition to a footnoted biography with its own bibliography. Also provided are illustrations of among the Better halves and their homes, in addition to an appendix describing the now historic residences by which the signers and their spouses resided.
