Description

Los angeles Florida del Inca is a central text within the history and culture of the Americas. Its creator, Inca Garcilaso de Los angeles Vega, the son of an Inca princess and a Spanish conquistador, was once born in Cuzco, Peru. In his chronicle Garcilaso offers a novel rendition of Hernando de Soto’s expedition (1539-43) to the vast territory known then as Los angeles Florida. The studies collected in Beyond Books and Borders: Garcilaso de Los angeles Vega and Los angeles Florida del Inca were presented by leading scholars at an interdisciplinary symposium in November 2003, backed by the Town School and the Graduate Center of the Town University of New York (CUNY), inaugurating the party of the fourth centennial of the 1605 publication of this essential work.
