Description

In 1934, Oregon’s new Democratic governor, Charles Henry Martin, started an assault on Northwest Exertions unions. After political defeat in 1938, Martin blamed his problems at the Nationwide Exertions Family members Board, accused FDR of being a Communist and Fascist, and recommended appeasement with Hitler. His army career, from 1887 to 1927, is similarly intriguing.
