Author interview:

What inspired the Prince Martin Epic? 
In 2015, I used to be deployed out of the country with the military. As the days and weeks went by, my young son lost interest in talking to me on the phone. I just couldn’t connect with him. Then it dawned on me: I should tell him stories about “Prince Martin.” From then on, he’d beg to talk to me when I’d call home. Upon my return, my lovely wife encouraged me to turn my stories into books so lots of kids could take delight in them. This is book one in the Prince Martin Epic children’s action-adventure series. Prince Martin and the Thieves is its exciting sequel!

Tell us about the art. 
Through sheer serendipity, I discovered that my friend, Jason Zimdars, loves to draw. And I love to write. So we joined forces. What makes Jason’s art in Prince Martin Wins His Sword so special is that it’s in full, brilliant color, which is very bizarre for chapter books, which are regularly in black and white. Jason’s illustrations explode off the page, and they completely enchant kids and bring the story to vibrant life!
